Have just got a different car with built-in sat nav and can't find a speed camera database that can be loaded to the system. Consequently looking for a stand alone kit. The Drivesmart Pro looks like it will do the job but the car has only one socket which is being used for a dashcam.
Is there any way the Pro can be powered by a USB port which is the only other outlet on the car dash?
Many thanks

Hi,
Yes, this can be done - You just need a MINI USB end for the Drivesmart Pro.
Alternatively, we offer a hardwire kit, so you can hide all the wiring behind the dash and power your unit direct from your vehicle's fuse box instead.

The Delux kit seems ideal, I assume I would be able to use the USB cable that comes with the kit until I get round to hardwiring?

Hi,
The USB which comes with the unit is quite short, as it's only used for updating your database via your PC, so although it would work, you may need to find somewhere to sit it near your USB port in your vehicle where you can still hear it.
OK no probs, I will be ordering shortly and see how it goes, if not I think I have a suitable cable anyway- thanks for your help.
Just one other thing, would the hardwire kit be able to feed the Pro and my dashcam? Operating current is 400MA (Quiescent current 20mA)
Recieved my Pro Delux, neat piece of kit - am very pleased with it. Thank you
Just got a new drivesmart alpha and so far quite impressed.
quick query re ‘mute’ button on top right hand side, supposed to switch GPS on/off but doesn’t, a ‘mute’ display is shown but don’t know what it means, any ideas, thanks
@grasmere
Hi there - the manufacturer issued an update a while back for this button function. It now acts as a temporary 'Mute' button, so if you have an alert whilst sitting in traffic or having a conversation, you can temporarily mute the alert.
The Radar ON/OFF toggle can now be found in the main settings.

Hi there,
I bought a few days ago the Alpha X which was working well until I installed the update. Since then, the screen is always blank although the unit is working and dark mode is OFF.
I tried reset to factory setting but no change.
What can I do?
Thanks
Hi there,
It sounds like you've purchased the Alpha-X, but installed the Alpha software / updates? When you go to the manufacturer's website, you need to ensure you go to the Alpha-X section along the top rather than the 'Alpha' section.
Kind regards

I didn't realise I did that.... You were right. It took a few tries to uninstall and reinstall with the correct software but after 4 or 5 times it finally worked.
Thanks a lot.
